High Performance Cooled CCD Camera Systems
Le nuove camere CCD della serie Alta, dotate di interfaccia 100Base-T Ethernet or USB 2.0, sono caratterizzate da una grande varietą di sensori per le pił svariate applicazioni, caratterizzati da un modesto array di 512 x 512 pixel fino al grande array da 4096 x 4096 pixel, CCD di  tipo interline, full frame, frame transfer, retroilluminati (back-illuminated) o illuminati frontalmente (front illuminated).

Criteri di selezione
I CCD retroilluminati sono tipicamente usati da applicazioni caratterizzate da  intensitą luminosa molto bassa perchč possiedono un'altissima Efficienza Quantica (QE= Quantum Efficiency). I sensori Kodak Blue Plus dotati di microlenti (suffisso ME nella sigla del sensore) hanno anch'essi un'alta QE di picco ma non distribuita su un ampio campo spettrale come nei CCD back-illuminated.  Le versioni UV dei sensori back-illuminated hanno la maggiore efficienza quantica nella regione spettrale dell'ultravioletto. I sensori Frame Transfer e Interline transfer sono per lo pił usati in applicazioni che richiedono sequenze veloci di acquisizione e download dei frames che pertanto non richiedono in generale l'uso di otturatori meccanici.
